Personal Sustainability Definition (Post-course)
Sustainability is a maxim we have created to make something rather complex sound more simple. It is a made up word that is often associated with the motto "go green" and is consequently misinterpreted. Although sustainability deals with the environmental issues of today and works towards making the world more 'green', it is really about creating a new societal paradigm that will lead to a shift in attitudes towards the natural earth and create a new world that works sustainably: giving back what we take to heal the scars we have left upon our home planet. This is a deeper concept than simply saving the earth because we need it to survive; this is about environmental justice. We are the first species to disrespect Mother Earth, and we owe it to her to put things right.
